Simulate a starting capital

For your backtest, you can set an initial starting capital by entering its value in the designated field (default value: €5,000).

Distinction between trading and investing:

• For a trading strategy : The starting capital is required, as it changes dynamically based on the gains and losses generated by each trade.

• For an investment strategy : This field is not required, because the investment can be made progressively according to the defined rules (DCA, conditional purchases, etc.). In this case, you should specify the invested capital directly in your rules. If an initial amount must be invested in a single transaction, this must also be specified in the strategy.

Although the starting capital does not affect trades executed historically, choosing a realistic value can help you better project its evolution.
